Linking New Erans

This website is dedicated to all New Era teachers, students and staff

Welcome to New Era School’s unofficial site. I finally had some spare time to give the site a face-lift. I’ve attempted to make it as presentable as possible. I hope your visit will be as enjoyable and exciting as I intended it to be.

I remember my first day of school as if it was yesterday. The classroom with large glass windows, the teacher, the small chairs, and of course how inconsolably I had cried when my father left after staying with me for a few minutes (although all my tears had fast dried when the teacher handed me a football). New Era was a place where I learned how to read and perform arithmetic; the two most important academic sets (everything else is just detail). We have had one of the best competent and talented educators; like Shimeles, Kumlachew, Fantaye, Boge, Elefinesh, Belay, Birtukan...the list goes on...and of course the Law and Order - Gezahegn. I'm sure most of you do reminiscence how Gezahegn structured and conducted the lineups before and after classes. How he faithfully enforced the brown and yellow dress code (...speaking of uniforms, who came up with such abnormal color combination for a dress code - and made us wear it eight hours a day, five days a week?)

Sharing lunch with a group of friends was common ritual. Once in awhile lunch boxes could get lost (or worse - stolen), and if lucky they end up at the Lost and Found place by the main entrance and be spared from coming up with an explanation (a good one too) to your parents how you lost it. So the frequent practice was to mark lunch boxes with nail polish for identification purposes. But before I get off the subject on food, I'm sure some of you (the boys) do remember "Zimbo" Shai Bet across the road (we used to call it "Zimbo" for a good reason). They had the best 'Paste' in the area (or may be that's all we could have afford for allowance next to nothing).

There is so much to talk about, so I expect you all to pitch in and participate.

So What is This About?

There clearly had been a need for a mechanism which can consitutes a bridge to help us communicate without border. This website aims at accomplishing just that - to give us the opportunity to reestablish the connection. Only a few of us have the prospect to keep tap on each other. To date, I have not got the chance to learn the whereabouts of my friends and most of my classmates.

It embodies a potential to do a lot of constructive things to our school. The message board is created to perform as a One Stop communication apparatus, so let's utilize its significance.
